• you know the legislation and ethical guidelines of nursing

• you know the concept of evidence-based practice and its importance in social and health care

Quality and safety of social and health services
• you know the principles of safety control and your responsibility in promoting them
• you know your professional responsibility in ensuring and promoting patient safety
• you are able to promote patient safety in all phases of the patient’s treatment process
• you are able to advice patients and their family in decision making concerning the treatment and promotion of safety
• you know the importance of confidentiality in the treatment process
• you are able to maintain the confidentiality and security of information

• Human dignity and human rights (WHO/ILO)
• Values, ethical principles and guidelines in nursing (Etene)

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• The concept of evidence-based practice (incl. production, distribution, implementation and evaluation of evidence) and its objectives
• Data search: the most important databases of health science

Quality and safety of social and health services
• The provision and organization of social and health services by the public, private and third sectors
• Ergonomics
• Planning and organization of and responsibilities in safety management
• Prevention, recognition and management of safety incidents
• Legislation on patient safty
• Areas of patient safety; equipment; treatment and medication safety
• Factors related to safety incidents and their reporting
• Promotion of system-oriented culture of patient safety
• Radiation safety
• Extended obligation of confidentiality and data protection, patients’ right to access their own medical records
• Data protection plan and security risks
• Information systems and their use in patient information recording
• Documentation and reporting
• Social media, electronic registers and other electronic communication
• Health care registers and printed archives
• Legislation, national quality recommendations and requirements; best practice and ethical guidelines

Evaluation

Assessment criteria level 3, competence during the completion phase.
You know how to:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Ergonomian osuus toteutuu verkossa ja alkaa kaikille yhteisellä ja pakollisella infolla työjärjestyksen mukaisesti.
Näyttöön perustuva toiminta ja hoitotyön turvallisuus ja eettisyys toteutuu ennakkotehtävinä, luentoina, opetuskeskusteluina, tuntiharjoitteina ja yksilö- tai paritehtävinä. Vertaisarviointia käytetään arvioinnissa.
