Basics of clinical nursing (5 cr)

Objective

Client orientation
• you value the patient’s/family or community member’s expertise concerning their own life
• you are able to utilize the clients’ experiential knowledge in the care of their health and treatment of illness

Clinical nursing
• you are able to use various methods in the psychosocial support of a patient
• you are able to respond to the need of care by using proper nursing methods and document them applying structurally coherent classification
• you are able to evaluate the patient’s need of care based on appropriate clinical and physiological assessment, prioritize the needs, and document them in compliance with structurally coherent classification
• you understand the principles of and are able to explain the significance of infection control
• you are able to administer and evaluate safe pharmacological treatment
• you are able to assess the need for emergency care

Content

Client orientation
• concepts of client and patient
• special features of client status in health care
• individual, family, and community as client
• significance of the client’ own interpretation of their experience
• influence of the client’s history, habits and overall life situation on the care
• the client’s personal, situational, and health related factors

Clinical nursing
• social support of a patient
• psycho-social methods
• nursing interventions (e.g. FinCC) and national standardized electronic nursing documentation
• national and international recommendations and guidelines in the treatment of various disease groups
• infection prevention
• aseptic technique
• microbiology
• pharmagological treatment
• pharmacology and pharmacy
• basic life support

Evaluation

Assessment criteria level 3, competence during the completion phase.

You know how to:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojakso koostuu kolmesta eri osakokonaisuudesta:
- Asiakaslähtöisyys ja kliininen hoitotyö (2,5 op)
- Lääkehoito ja lääkelaskut (2 op)
- Kirjaaminen (0,5 op)
Opiskelijan tulee olla läsnä kunkin osakokonaisuuden ensimmäisellä lähiopetuskerralla jolloin annetaan tarkemmat ohjeet opintojakson suorittamisesta. Lähiopetusta järjestetään tukemaan Moodlessa olevia materiaaleja.
Toteutustavat: Demonstraatio, havainnollistaminen, itsenäisesti tai ryhmässä tapahtuva työskentely, luento, opetuskeskustelu, oppimistehtävät

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Kliinisen hoitotyön toteutuksen osa: Opintonsa syksyllä 2018 aloittaville ja vaihtoehtoisesta suoritustavasta kiinnostuneille aikaisemman terveydenhuoltoalan tutkinnon suorittaneille opiskelijoille (lähihoitaja, perushoitaja, pelastaja tms.) järjestetään opintojen alussa teoreettista hoitotyön osaamista mittaava diagnostinen taitonäyttö.

Student workload

Opiskelijan työmäärä (5 x 27 tuntia) koostuu lähiopetuksesta, itsenäisestä aiheeseen tutustumisesta ja ryhmätyöskentelystä.

Assessment methods and criteria

Hyväksytysti suoritetut tentit, ryhmätehtävät ja taitonäyttö. Lääkelaskuissa hyväksytty suoritus on laskut oikein 100%.
Arviointi:
Tentit asteikolla 1-5
Ryhmätehtävät asteikolla 1-5 tai Hyväksytty/Hylätty
Opintojakson kokonaisarvosana asteikolla 1-5.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

LÄÄKEHOITO: Opiskelija ei saa hyväksyttyä tulosta tentissä.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

LÄÄKEHOITO: Tietojen soveltamisen taso osoittautuu heikoksi ja perustietojen hallinnassa on selviä puutteita.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

LÄÄKEHOITO: Lääkehoidon perustiedot ovat hyvin hallinnassa. Opiskelijalla on valmiuksia tunnistaa ja arvioida lääkkeenantoon liittyviä asioita. Opiskelija tuntee eri lääkkeenantotavat ja niissä huomioitavat asiat.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

LÄÄKEHOITO: Opiskelija hallitsee lääkehoidon perusteet erittäin hyvin. Opiskelijalla on hyvät valmiudet tunnistaa ja arvioida lääkkeenantoon liittyviä asioita. Opiskelija tuntee eri lääkkeenantotavat ja ymmärtää niissä huomioitavat asiat.
