Basics of clinical nursing (5 cr)

Objective

Client orientation
• you value the patient’s/family or community member’s expertise concerning their own life
• you are able to utilize the clients’ experiential knowledge in the care of their health and treatment of illness

Clinical nursing
• you are able to use various methods in the psychosocial support of a patient
• you are able to respond to the need of care by using proper nursing methods and document them applying structurally coherent classification
• you are able to evaluate the patient’s need of care based on appropriate clinical and physiological assessment, prioritize the needs, and document them in compliance with structurally coherent classification
• you understand the principles of and are able to explain the significance of infection control
• you are able to administer and evaluate safe pharmacological treatment
• you are able to assess the need for emergency care

Content

Client orientation
• concepts of client and patient
• special features of client status in health care
• individual, family, and community as client
• significance of the client’ own interpretation of their experience
• influence of the client’s history, habits and overall life situation on the care
• the client’s personal, situational, and health related factors

Clinical nursing
• social support of a patient
• psycho-social methods
• nursing interventions (e.g. FinCC) and national standardized electronic nursing documentation
• national and international recommendations and guidelines in the treatment of various disease groups
• infection prevention
• aseptic technique
• microbiology
• pharmagological treatment
• pharmacology and pharmacy
• basic life support

Evaluation

Assessment criteria level 3, competence during the completion phase.

You know how to:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojakso koostuu kahdesta eri osakokonaisuudesta:
Lääkehoidon perusteet 2 op
Asiakaslähtöisyys ja kliininen hoitotyö 3op.
Osallistut työjärjestyksen mukaiseen lääkehoidon perusteiden sekä asiakaslähtöisyyys ja kliininen hoitotyö- lähiopetukseen ja opiskelet itsenäisesti sekä teet sovitut oppimistehtävät opintojakson alussa sovitun aikataulun mukaisesti.

Assessment methods and criteria

Osallistuminen lähitunneille ja oppimistehtävien tekeminen. Tuntiaktiivisuus.
Tehtävien arviointi/arvostelu: hyväksytty – täydennettävä – hylätty arvioinnilla Xamk:n arviointikriteerien mukaisesti.
Tentin arviointi: numeerinen (1-5) Xamk:in arviointiohjeiden mukaisesti. Tentin uusiminen oppilaitoksen yleisenä tenttipäivänä. Muista ilmoittautua tenttiin 10päivää aikaisemmin Studentissa.
