Objective

Clinical nursing
• you are able to perform the main clinical nursing tasks and diagnostic tests as part of the overall care for a patient diagnosed with an internal disease or cancer
• you are able to administer and evaluate safe pharmacological treatment for different groups of patients
• you are able to integrate nutrition therapy and education in co-operation with a multi-professional network of experts
• you are able to provide nursing for patients diagnosed with an internal disease or cancer
• you are able to carry out humane palliative care for patients suffering from incurable or long-term illnesses symptomatic and support their families

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• you are able to determine the content of necessary treatment and plan the treatment process based on standard decision-making procedures
• you are able to actively utilize research knowledge (recommendations, reports based on research evidence) in your decision making

Patient education competence
• you are able to carry out patient education as part of a nurse’s work in a medical ward

Content

Clinical nursing
• most common procedures and diagnostic tests in clinical nursing
• FNR diet in health promotion and prevention of national diseases
• nutrition therapy and the most common special diets as part of the patient’s overall treatment
• evaluation of the nutritional status (malnutrition) of the patient and its importance in the treatment
• pharmacological treatment, pharmaceutical service, dosage calculations, pharmacology and pharmacy
• most common internal diseases
• most common forms of cancer
• nursing interventions in the care of a medical patient
• nursing interventions in the care of a cancer patient
• palliative care

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• evaluation of the nursing process
• documentation

Patient education competence
• patient/client education

Evaluation

You know how to:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
f. promote the team’s goal-oriented operation

Course material

Oppikirjana on Ahonen, Outi, Blek-Vehkaluoto, Mari, Ekola, Sirkka, Partamies, Sanna, Silosaari, Virpi & Uski-Tallqvist, Tuija. 2017 (vanhempikin käy). Kliininen hoitotyö. Sisätauteja, kirurgisia sairauksia ja syöpätauteja sairastavan hoito sekä Käypä hoito -suosituksia. Tämän lisäksi kurssin moodle- alustalla oleva aineisto sovitusti.

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Osallistut työjärjestyksen mukaiseen opetukseen ja ohjaukseen. Opiskelusi rytmittyvät työjärjestyksen mukaisten ryhmätapaamisten ja itsenäisesti tehtävien oppimistehtävien mukaan

Säteilysuojelu (1op) tentti, arviointi: hyväksytty - hylätty
ja lääkelaskutentti (0 op), arviointi; hyväksytty - hylätty

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Numeerinen arviointi:
Arviointikriteereiden taso 3 osaamisen alkuvaihe:
a) Osaat käyttää johdonmukaisesti sisä- ja syöpätauteihin liittyviä ammattikäsitteitä.
b) Osaat etsiä ja käyttää sisä- ja syöpätautien hoitotyöstä ajantasaista ja luotettavaa näyttöön perustuvaa tietoa alan keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä.
e) Osaat käyttää sisä- ja syöpätautien hoitotyön toimintoja teoriatasolla ja simulaatioissa.
f) Osaat toimia tavoitteellisesti simulaatioissa tiimin jäsenenä.
