Objective

Ethics and professionality in nursing
• you are able to represent your client’s best interests and present yourself as a nursing professional in various teams
• you are able to produce, share and utilize expert competence in multidisciplinary teams, networks and partnerships

Clinical nursing
• you are able to use various methods in the psychosocial support of a patient
• you are able to perform the main nursing procedures and diagnostic tests as part of the overall patient care
• you are able to maintain professional interaction and encounter patients with mental health or substance abuse problems and their families in various nursing environments, promote mental health, prevent problems and focus on strengths.
• you understand the influence of mental health and substance abuse on the well-being of a person and his family
• you are able to support a client in acute crisis
• you are able to administer pharmacological treatment to patients with mental health or substance abuse problems

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• you are able to evaluate the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation,evaluation) and assess nursing interventions according to the decision making process
• you are able to actively utilize research knowledge(recommendations, reports based on research evidence) in nursing decision making

Patient education competence
• you manage patient education as a method in mental health and substance abuse care

Clinical nursing
• psycho-social methods
• most common procedures and diagnostic tests in clinical nursing
• basics of the most common mental disorders and psychiatric diseases
• pharmacological treatment (pharmaceutical service, dosage calculations, pharmacology and pharmacy)
• methods in psychiatric care, nurse-patient relationship
• basics of intoxicating substances
• methods of substance abuse work and early intervention
• prevention of substance abuse in work communities and response to risks, harms and problems
• acute crisis care

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• evaluation of the nursing process
• documentation in nursing

Patient education competence
• patient/client education

Assessment criteria level 3, competence during the completion phase.

a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
