Maternity and family nursing (5 cr)

Objective

Client-orientation
• you are able to support the involvement of the client’s family in the care and respecting the viewpoints and strengths of the client

Ethics and professionality in nursing
• you are able to produce, share and utilize expert competence in multidisciplinary teams, networks and partnerships

Clinical nursing
• you are familiar with the normal proceedings of pregnancy, labour and post-natal period, and you are able to monitor them
• you are able to support and promote the well-being of families with children
• you are able to support families in parenting and newborn care
• you are able to assess the need of urgent and emergency care
• you are able to support the functional ability and participation of a disabled person
• you are able to perfrom pharmacological treatment in maternity and family nursing

Evidence-based practice and decision making
• you are able to evaluate the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and assess nursing interventions according to the decision making process in maternity and family nursing
• you are able to utilize research knowledge (recommendations, reports based on research evidence) in nursing decision making in maternity and family nursing

Patient education competence
• you are able to manage patient education as a part of nursing work in maternity and family nursing

The operational environment in social and health care
• you are able to guide the client/patient to use the appropriate public, private and third sector social and health care services to promote his/her health and well-being

Assessment criteria level 3, competence during the completion phase.

a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way

e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Äitiyshuolto 2 op, sisältää gynekologian osuuden. Luennot (2op) ja lääketieteen osuudesta virtuaalinen oppimisympäristö (itsenäinen opiskelu).
Terveen lapsen ja nuoren kasvu ja kehitys. Vammaisuus 1.5 op
Sairaan lapsen hoitotyö 1.5 op ja lääketieteen virtuaalinen oppimisympäristö.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Äitiyshuolto 2 op, sisältää gynekologian osuuden. Kirjatentti ja lääketieteen osuudesta virtuaalinen oppimisympäristö
Terveen lapsen ja nuoren kasvu ja kehitys. Vammaisuus 1.5 op. Kirjatentti Exam-tenttiakvaariossa.
Sairaan lapsen hoitotyö 1.5 op. Kirjatentti ja muu sovittu materiaali. Laboraatiot.

Opintojaksoon liittyy 5 op laborointia ja simulaatiota perhe- ja yhteisötyönharjoittelusta

Assessment methods and criteria

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä luennoilla 80% läsnäolo. Terveen lapsen ja jiuoren hoitotyössä 100% läsnäolo.
Äitiyshuolto: tentit.
Terveen lapsen ja nuoren kasvu ja kehitys tehtävä ( arviointi 1-5) & vammaisuus tehtävä (täydennettävä-hyväksytty)
Sairaan lapsen hoitotyö 1.5 op tentit.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

a. Osaat käyttää johdonmukaisesti lasten, nuorten ja perheen hoitotyöhön sekä naistentautien hoitotyöhön ja äitiyshuoltoon kuuluvia käsitteitä
b. Osaat etsiä ja käyttää näyttöön perustuvaa tietoa lasten, nuorten ja perheen hoidosta sekä naistentautien hoidosta ja äitiyshuollosta ajantasaista ja luotettavaa tietoa keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä
e. Osaat käyttää keskeisiä hoitotyön toimintoja lasten, nuorten ja perheen hoitotyön sekä äitiyshuollon ja naistentautien hoitotyössä teoriatasolla sekä simulaatioissa
