- marine steam boiler plants and operating principles
- the responsibilities and tasks in operation, supervising and control of steam boilers
- safe operation, supervision and maintenance of boiler units, plants and system component

- the basics of steam technology; steam diagrams, enthalpy and steam process calculations
- marine steam boiler types and constructions, working principles and boiler control automation
- boiler safety and safety devices, burners and supervision of steam boilers
- officers duties in engineer watch of boiler plant and steam systems
- maintenance, inspection and surveys of boiler plant and steam system components
- safe work procedures with steam system operations and maintenance
