Objective
You apply fundamental industry standard principles to rig a character for 3D game production.
You implement anatomically and technically accurate bone and joint placement in the creation of rigging controllers.
You learn the fundamentals of topology and low-poly meshes for game-ready optimized rigs.
You use industry-standard rigging tools.
You export rigs for cinematics and game engines.
Content
What is the importance and difference between rigging for games, and animated features?
How to use bones, joints, and structural hierarchies for character rigging?
How do you build and skin a basic character rig?
How to create control systems for animators such as IK/FK, and prop constraints?
How to paint weights and apply clean topology for clean mesh deformations?
How to use industry standard tools and software effectively?
What is the preparation process to export rigged models for use in game engine and animation production pipelines?
Evaluation
Students can
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. assess information sources critically.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
