Objective

After the successful completion of this course, students are able to implement a variety of solutions used in operator networks. Students are able to apply their knowledge and skills when networks are migrated. Upon completion of this course, the students are able to solve new problems by applying their knowledge and skills in new ways, and to analyze the results.

Content

The course deals with major technologies used by network operators such as routing techniques and their configuration (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), VRF technology, MPLS technology, MPLS-VPN solutions, fast convergence and its configuration and IPv6 provider networks. The students are working with project works based on the needs of working life. The projects are coming from the local network operators , internet service providers and other companies dealing with networks. The SimuNet network is working as a very important platform for implementing project works.

Teaching methods

Scheduled track:
You participate into scheduled contact lessons. You studies are progressing in the pace of the group schedule and self paced learning activities.

Independent track:
If you are working in a company, organisation or a higher education project aligned with the study unit learning outcomes, you are able to complete the study unit in your workplace. In this case contact your responsible teacher in the beginning of the studies to agree with a development project you can execute in your work. Successful completion requires you study the topics in theory and practise. You must show your skills via a demonstration, which is determined based on learning objectives.

Student workload

Achieving the learning outcomes requires 135 hours of work of which about half is contact lessons and laboratory exercises and the other half self study, practise exams and remote laboratory exercises.
