Objective

Strategic management is the ongoing planning, monitoring, analysis and assessment of all that is necessary for a company or an organization to meet its goals and objectives. Changes in the business environment require companies or organizations to constantly assess their strategies for success and successfull competitiveness.

• Student knows basic information about mission, vision, values and strategy.
• Student knows basic elements about strategic thinking.
• Student can analyze companies' and organisations' strategy.

•The basic concepts of strategic management.
• Mission statement, values and vision.
•Defining strategic objectives, policies and action plans.
• Processes and measurement of process efficiency.
• Strategic thinking.

Teaching methods

Assignment, peer review and tests.

Compliance with course schedules is mandatory.

Employer connections

The course does not include guided working life cooperation. Working life cooperation is not needed.

Exam schedules

The course completion is automated. Exams on duty freely within the deadline. The written assignment will be returned and the peer reviews included in the course will be completed within the exact deadline. Deadlines cannot be flexible. More detailed instructions on the Learn page of the course.

In practice, this automated course will run three times during 2022:
- Winter 2022 between 17 January and 1 May 2022
- Summer 2022 between 9 May and 28 August 2022
- Autumn 2022 between 12 September and 27 November 2022

NOTE: The student completes the course in ONE OF THE ABOVE PERIODS, based on when he or she has enrolled in the course. Each episode is similar in content.

Winter 2022 section schedules:
- Exams freely between 17.1.-1.5.2022
- Return of learning assignment between 24 January and 6 March 2022
- Peer reviews between 10 March and 10 April 2022
- Overall assessment and grades: Early May 2022.

International connections

The course does not include guided international cooperation.

The peer review section may involve international cooperation in the sense that the course assignment returner and its peer reviewers can be from different countries and cultures.

The completion of the course is based on the student's own active work; familiarisation with materials, answering exams, carrying out written work and peer reviews in an electronic workshop. Course schedules must be followed. More detailed instructions on the course's Learn website.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment is based on the total score collected by the student from the exams, written assignment and peer review he/she has completed. The score given by the written assignment and peer review is determined by the automation of the Learn page of the course.

Grades 1-5:

100-89 points grade 5;

88-78 points grade 4;

77-65 points grade 3;

64-52 points grade 2

51-40 points grade 1
