Objective

Competence in patient education and teaching
• you understand the philosophical, ethical and pedagogical foundation of education and teaching and their significance
• you are able to plan, implement and evaluate patient education and teaching in a client- and group-oriented manner together with other professionals
• you understand patient education and teaching as part of a nurse’s work in different contexts
• you are able to utilize client-oriented patient education and teaching methods appropriate to the situation
• you are able to appropriately utilize the existing and produce new patient education and teaching materials

• orientation of a new member of staff/ student nurse

• evaluation and development of patient education

You know how to:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way
b. evaluate information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field

Course material

Opiskelumateriaali osoitetaan opintojakson alussa ja se löytyy kurssin oppimisalustalta.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojaksolla on 30 tuntia lähiopetusta sisältäen luentoja, pienryhmätyöskentelyä, opintokäynti (tai vieraileva luennoitsija) ja simulaatioharjoitus. Itsenäinen työskentely koostuu opintojaksolla osoitettuun materiaaliin perehtymisestä ja oppimistehtävien tekemisestä.

Opintoja nopeuttava oppimisväylä:
Opintojaksoa ei voi suorittaa työhön integroituna.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Moodle-verkkokurssi: Opettaminen ja ohjaaminen hoitotyössä 5 op.
Perehdyt itsenäisesti Moodlessa olevaan materiaaliin ja teet tarvittavat oppimistehtävät.
Voit tehdä verkkokurssin niinä aikoina, kun se on opetustarjonnassa.

Assessment methods and criteria

Kirjallinen oppimistehtävä arvioidaan numeraalisesti (1-5) ja simulaatio arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty/täydennettävä (hyväksytty vastaa arvosanaa H3). Opintojakson arvosanassa huomioidaan myös muut suoritetut oppimistehtävät, jotka arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty / täydennettävä.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Opiskelija ei saavuta opintojakson tavoitteita ja saa oppimistehtävistä hylätyn suorituksen.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Osaat käyttää johdonmukaisesti ohjaukseen ja opetukseen liittyviä käsitteitä.
Osaat etsiä ohjaukseen ja opetukseen liittyvää tietoa alan keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä.
Osaat käyttää keskeisiä ohjauksen ja opetuksen menetelmiä.
Osaat perustella ohjaustoimintaasi terveysalan eettisten periaatteiden mukaisesti.

Qualifications

You have proven your competence in the following studies:
- Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology (5 ECTS)
- Quality and safety of social and health care services (5 ECTS)
- Basics of clinical nursing (5 ECTS)
- Practical training: Professional basics of nursing (minimum 4 ECTS)
