Objective

You can work professionally in different podiatry environments with individuals and groups.
You apply evidence-based podiatry methods both in assessment and therapy situations critically and with a developing approach.
You can solve problems in dialogue and interaction with multi-professional teams and networks.
You can evaluate your own working knowhow critically and promote your own professional practice.
You can assess the quality and effectiveness of podiatry.

The objectives are specified according to the provider of the practical training placement (e.g. hospital or orthotic unit).

Content

How do you evaluate the clients' foot health and the functional capacity of the lower extremities?
How do you estimate and justify clients’ need for podiatry?
How do you support and promote clients' foot health with various orthotics, care and guidance?
How did you motivate your clients to maintain and promote their foot health and the functional capacity of their lower extremities?
How do you evaluate and make conclusions based on clinical reasoning and podiatric differential diagnostics in various problem-solving situations?
How do you plan and implement evidence-based podiatry in various client situations and working life environments?
How do you represent your own profession in multidisciplinary work communities?
How do you assess and develop social and healthcare practices from your own profession’s point of view?

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
- evaluate information sources critically.
- work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
- evaluate operations in client, user and target group situations.
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
- promote teams’ goal-oriented operation.
- apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.
