Objective

You can see the link between strategic management and the organization’s business strategy and leadership.
You can apply different methods of managing and assessing individual and group performance in your supervisory work.
You can identify tasks related to the role of a manager and assess and develop your own skills in managerial work

What are the issues involved in defining strategic goals, policies and action plans?
How are processes and their effectiveness measured?
How does leadership affect the success of an organisation?
What requirements does leadership set to professional competence?
How can the work of a leader and the employees be combined with the goals of the business by using different leadership methods?

Working life cases. The final assignment of the course is done for your own organization (if available).

Tentit ja muut määräajat

There is no exam in the course. The grade is based on the assessed assignments, the return times of which are as follows: Online discussion task, return no later than February 17th, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. Final assignment, return no later than May 5th, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. During the study period, we respect the schedules.

All the materials will be in English.

5 credits = 135 h of student work. The workload consists Teams-session, reading texts, online discussions, watching videos and doing assignments.

Assessment methods and criteria

Online discussion assignment 20 % of the course grade. Final assignment 60 % of the course grade. Other tasks 20 % of the grade.

* Map and develop leadership/management skills (case company)
* Work individually and in development teams to solve given business problems
* Apply key theoretical frameworks in leadership and management to solve case problems
* Demonstrate independent expertise in developing own leadership skills to manage company as an entrepreneur
* Communicate own expertise through written reports and presentations in English.
