Objective

You understand the principles of implementing strength training and you can plan strength training programs for different target groups.
You know how to consider the functional or physical performance limitations of a rehabilitee when planning strength training.
You understand the principles of implementing endurance training and you can plan endurance training programs for different target groups.
You know how to consider the functional or physical performance limitations of a rehabilitee when planning endurance training.
You deepen your understanding of speed, motor skills and movement control learning.

Evaluation

Students can
a. find, study, produce and assess critically multidisciplinary data in their field of expertise.
d. be responsible for operations and develop them independently.

Course material

Study materials will be published via the Learn platform during the course and are provided by the teacher during the contact week.

Study forms and methods

•The course progresses according to the group's shared schedule. The implementation includes lectures in an online environment preparing for the contact period, week 45 of the contact period, when when the topic area is introduced in practice, and a learning assignment related to the contact period. Attendance on the following days is essential.

•The course consists of three components, which are assessed separately: active participation in lectures and small group working (1 credit), active participation in the contact period (2 credits), and an online exam (2 credits).

RDI and work-related cooperation

Assignments can be completed with reference to tasks given by one’s employer or in connection to developing a product.

Timing of exams and assignments

The course ends at the time indicated in the implementation information, by which time students have returned the required assignments and passed the exam.

International cooperation

Teaching is organized in English with students being from different nationalities.

Student workload

1 ECTS credits equals 27 hours of work by the student.
• In a 5-credit course, the student's total maximum workload is approximately 135 hours.

The contact week will be organized on the Kotka campus in week 45, Monday - Thursday (November 3-6, 2025).
