Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- different types of gas tankers and IGF ships, general arrangement and construction.
- basics of cargo and fuel systems and physical properties of liquefied gases.
- basics of cargo and bunkering operations.
- basic knowledge of the hazards and precautions associated with gas operations
- basics of hazard controls and pollution prevention

Constructions and characteristics of gas tankers and IGF ships
- cargo systems
- fuel systems and storage
- physical properties of gases
- health hazards, environmental hazards, reactivity hazards
- explosion and flammability hazards, sources of ignition and electrostatic hazards, toxicity hazards
- basic knowledge of hazard controls
- knowledge and understanding of gas related safety culture and safety management
- understanding of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and their use in different emergencies
- safe working practices and procedures including emergency shutdowns
- leaks, venting and environment protection procedures
